Insightful Conflicts: Theatre Performance
October 25–27, 2024 Meisner Theater Festival, Netherlands

"I could hardly look at the performance—
my eyes kept welling up with tears."
A mirror, a roll of red tape, and a tangled mass of it—these simple objects become a window into the artist’s inner world.
Under the spotlight, the red tape glows vividly, like an obsession that compels one to cling to it. The small, repetitive act of peeling at its edges builds up like the frustration of life’s never-ending trivialities. And then, something shifts: as the object projects the artist’s inner conflicts, they transform in each moment they are let go. In the end, the tape is gathered into clusters, accompanied by the cheerful calls of the vendor—now it is no longer burdensome but something to share with delight.
Through raw intuition, the performance turns into a mirror—not just reflecting the artist, but a reflection of the spectators themselves.

During Lin's performance the spectator does not distinguish himself from her but instead becomes one with the performer. Then to an audience the deed, the doing and the doer become one. An amazing experience which catches the view of an alert public. This way Lin brings to light the pattern that lies beneath the existence of the human condition called action.
